Kalsoy Island & Kallur Lighthouse Hiking Tour

Journey to the edge of the Faroe Islands on a guided hike across Kalsoy Island, where Kallur Lighthouse stands sentinel above cliffs that plunge into the Atlantic.

1 / 48
Highlights
Hike to the iconic Kallur Lighthouse on dramatic sea cliffs
Traverse dark mountain tunnels by private bus
Visit the legendary Seal Woman statue in Mikladalur
Experience seabirds soaring above and below you
Enjoy hassle free ferry travel as a foot passenger

Step aboard the ferry in Klaksvík and leave the everyday world behind. Twenty minutes across the water, Kalsoy Island emerges from the Atlantic like a slumbering sea creature, its spine carved by ancient glaciers and threaded with tunnels that burrow through solid rock.

A private bus winds you through these darkened passages to Trøllanes, a village so quiet you can hear the grass whisper. Here, your local guide awaits to lead you along the mountain path toward Kallur Lighthouse, that lonely white sentinel perched on the very edge of the known world. The hike takes just under an hour each way, but the reward is infinite: the sheer face of Borgarin plunging vertically into churning waters, seabirds wheeling below your feet, and neighboring islands floating in the mist like half remembered dreams.

Afterward, the bus carries you south to Mikladalur, where you will wander independently through village lanes and descend the epic coastal stairway to meet the Seal Woman statue, her bronze gaze forever fixed on the waves that claimed her sealskin.

Park free in Klaksvík and skip the vehicle queue entirely. As a foot passenger, you simply walk aboard the ferry SAM and let the journey unfold without rush or worry. Return sailings depart at 15:10 on Monday and Wednesday or 15:30 on Saturday, delivering you back to the harbor mere steps from your car.
