Ride Icelandic horses through ancient lava fields and rolling hills as evening light paints the landscape gold. An intimate small group journey ending with warm drinks at a traditional stable.
As the evening light softens over the Icelandic highlands, saddle up for a journey through landscapes shaped by fire and time. This intimate riding experience carries you across the sweeping Hólmsheiði hills, through the storied Stallion Valley, and into the rust red embrace of Rauðhólar, where ancient lava formations rise like monuments to the earth’s restless heart. Your adventure begins with a gentle riding lesson, ensuring riders of all levels feel confident atop the sure footed Icelandic horse, a breed unchanged for over a thousand years. With a maximum of ten riders per group, this is horseback riding as it should be: personal, unhurried, and deeply connected to the land. Spend between one and a half to two hours in the saddle, moving through terrain that shifts from emerald meadows to volcanic sculpture gardens bathed in golden evening hues. Upon return to the Viking Horses stable, warm your hands around a cup of coffee, tea, or rich hot cacao as you reflect on trails traveled and stories gathered. All riding gear is provided, from helmets to rain pants, so you need only bring warm layers and a camera ready to capture the magic. Suitable for beginners and seasoned riders alike, with a minimum age of eight years.
