Iceland’s real cultural heritage lies in the stories we wrote, the history of pilgrimages, Vikings, Kings, love, war and Gods. Its who we are and where we come from and we want to honor that by adding a little bit of history and mythology for the travelers who come here.
Why Loki Travel
Who We Are
Growing up as a kid in the Westman Islands was a magical experience. As kids, we spent our summers rescuing pufflings, what are pufflings you say, they are tiny, lost seabirds that had flown into town, they mistake the artificial light for the moon, but we release them back into the wild the next day. We climbed volcanic hills, feeling the warmth of stones that had been forged by the earth itself, and watched orcas glide effortlessly through the ocean near the docks.
Living in a place like that, nature wasn’t just something we visited; it was part of us. It shaped how we saw the world and instilled a deep sense of wonder and adventure. As I got older, that sense of connection only grew stronger.
I travelled across Iceland, watching reindeer dart through the forests in the east, their movements quick and graceful. Wandered in the wild landscapes around Snæfellsjökull, where the everything from the ground to the sky feels like a dream. In the Westfjords, I stood at the edge of cliffs that cut from land to sea, the kind that make you feel small in the best way possible. The north had an eerie, almost otherworldly feel—like stepping onto another planet. And in the heart of the country, I found myself in the middle of vast, empty plains where the silence wasn’t just quiet—it felt alive, like it was speaking in its own way.But going on tours by myself, something wasn’t right.
Don’t be rushed from one bus to another, ticking off checklists and doing the same photo as you’ve seen from nine of your cousins and three of your colleagues.
Travel is supposed to be an adventure, that expands your mind and changes you. That’s what we’re about, creating lasting memories that you can reminisce about during happy hours with colleagues or at your retirement home later.
The arctic isn’t something to visit. It’s a place you should feel, and we would like to formally invite you.
Explore the Arctic in its full glory
