Description

On this full day excursion you will begin by taking a bus ride to the island of Sandoy through the newest and longest sub-sea tunnel in the Faroes.

You will be driven straight to the village of Sandur, where you will board the small ferry to SKúvoy.

On arrival at the islands you will be greeted by your local host and guide, a farmer on the island.

He will take you to see Puffins and all the great viewpoints on the island, before taking you back to his home for lunch and coffee, before leading you back to the ferry for Sandoy.

From there you will drive back to the beautiful old village of Kirkjubøur (Church’s Field). Here you will visit the oldest church still in use in the Faroes, the over 900 years old Ólavs church  Next is the ruins of the 14th Century St.Magnus Cathedral, the site and reason for the second Civil War in the Faroes. This magnificent old structure is an Unesco World Heritage Site. Finishing the visit in the 950+ years old farmhouse, the Roykstova. This farm is the home of the Patursson family, currently headed by the 17th generation of the family running this farm.

Returning from Kirkjubø you will be dropped off at your hotels or other drop off point in Tórshavn.
