Join this full-day excursion to the southernmost island of the Faroe Islands, Suðuroy. The journey starts in Tórshavn, where you will be picked up in the morning by our professional and passionate tour guides, and we will head right down to the harbor to the biggest inland ferry of the Faroe Islands, Smyril. Onboard this comfortable ferry is a great restaurant where you can buy breakfast or a warm meal. The sail from Tórshavn to Suduroy takes two hours, and along the way, you will be spoiled with fantastic views like the two small islands Stóri Dímun & Lítli Dímun On suðuroy we will visit many villages, drive through some of the most beautiful landscapes, and visit some historical places.
Early morning we depart from Tórshavn on the ferry M/F Smyril. This is the largest inland ferry in the Faroes. The sailing time is two hours to the southernmost island of Suðuroy.
The journey sails past the islands of Sandoy, Stóri Dímun (with two families living on it), and the uninhabited Lítli Dímun.
Upon arrival in Suðuroy, we start by driving to the village of Tvøroyri. After departing Tvøroyri we drive to the village of Hvalba. This is one of the most beautiful villages in the Faroe Islands. From there the scenic route takes us to the Northernmost village on Suðuroy named Sandvík.
After spending some time in Sandvík we drive south to a village called Fámjin. The original Faroese flag is located inside the old Church there.
The journey goes all the way to the Southernmost village of Sumba. Along the way, we will pass the villages of Vágur and Lopra.
After exploring the village for a while we take another route back from Sumba. This drive takes us past stunning cliffs and the scenic and historic villages of Porkeri and Hov.
After this, we head back to the ferry Smyril and the sail back to Tórshavn (Note: Some waiting time is to be expected for the ferry!)
