Here is an example of a possible route: We start by heading to our very own black sand beach called Landeyjafjara. From there we head to the stunning Seljalandsfoss waterfall and its little brother, Gljúfrabúi. Next up is the hidden waterfall inside the mysterious Nauthúsagil valley and the underground rivers at Merkurker crater. Not so far away is Gígjökull ice cap where the floods from the Eyjafjallajökull eruption were first noticed. Your guide will share with you stories from the eruption in 2010 and explain the drastic changes that took place. We will also discover the beautiful area of Fljótshlíð where Iceland’s most famous Saga took place, the Saga of Njáll. There we will stop by the 44 meters tall waterfall Gluggafoss which forms part of the bigger Merkjárfoss falls.

From December 15th to June 1st there is also the possibility of going on top of the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano that erupted in 2010. In good weather the scenery from the top is spectacular with a view over the inland of Iceland, the surrounding glaciers, the black beaches and the Westmann Islands (as well as, of course, a look into the vast crater from which over 500 tonnes of ash per second were at one time being ejected!).
