The search for Anna Löve is an immersive outdoor puzzle hunt game on the streets of downtown Reykjavik. 

Teams receive clues on their phone via Facebook Messenger and journey around downtown Reykjavik to solve the mysterious abduction of Anna Löve. Anna, a nice, 82 year old lady was abducted by a puzzle crazed, deranged (but seemingly non-violent) criminal mastermind who goes by the name of Drumbeat Dan. 

Participants can play as a single team against the clock or split into multiple teams to spice things up. 

How to play

👫 Bring together your team(s). We recommend 2-5 players per  team so everyone gets involved in solving the puzzles. If you're 4+  players, we highly recommend splitting up and play in teams

📱 Each team captain receives clues on Facebook Messenger on  their phone. Teams journey across downtown Reykjavik to solve puzzles in  the shortest amount of time

🎯 Need help? Hints and solutions can speed up the progress or get you unstuck. But they result in added time penalties

⏱ The hunt takes between 2.5 and 3.5 hours to complete but you can take a more leisurely approach and complete it in ~4.5 hours

🚶‍♀️The minimum distance you'll cover is 3.6 kilometers (2.3  miles) but you'll likely end up covering ~5 kilometers (3 miles) going  down some 🕳🐇

☂️ The hunt mostly takes place outdoors so wear suitable  clothing. If you want to postpone the hunt – even halfway through –  that's not a problem. The booking is completely flexible

Frequently asked questions

Can I play during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Yes. The majority of The Search For Anna Löve  takes place outdoors. Only two checkpoints require you to go into an  establishment but only briefly to receive information.

Do I need to have Facebook Messenger on my phone to play The Search For Anna Löve?

Yes. During the game you'll receive clues and  submit answers to puzzles via Facebook Messenger, to advance to the next  checkpoint.

When can I play The Search For Anna Löve?

You should start your game between 11am and 4pm. This is because some checkpoints are subject to opening hours.

Can everyone in my team receive messages?

No. Only team captains receive messages to keep  the communications consistent. In practice this is fine because team  members will stay within shouting distance of each other.

Can I change the date of my game?

Yes. If you want to change the date of your game, you can do this free of charge by emailing us.

I want to be on the leaderboard. Are there any rules?

Unless you opt out, your score can qualify for  our leaderboard which includes the top 20 scores for the previous 30  days. Fair play guidelines apply:

What if I don't want my team details and score to show on the leaderboard?

That's no problem. At the start of your game,  you'll be asked whether you're happy to have your details on the  leaderboard. If you later change your mind, please email us and we'll remove your details from the leaderboard.

If we play with multiple teams, will they follow each other?

No. Start 5-10 minutes apart, just so you don't  trip over each other at the starting line, but generally there's enough  variability in how long it takes teams to solve puzzles that while you may see each other periodically (Reykjavik is small!) you won't be in  each other's way. Also, each checkpoint requires an answer before  proceeding to the next one, so following another team isn't a great  strategy. Oh, and while some checkpoints are the same, there are a few with different answers for different teams.

What if it rains?

Most of your game will take place outdoors, so wear suitable clothes.

Then again, the game is fully flexible. If the  weather is particularly bad, you can easily reschedule for another day  free of charge by emailing us. You can do this, even if you have already started your game!

How long does a game take?

How long should I expect to wait for a reply to a message?

You'll normally receive a reply within a few seconds. Occasionally your answer may be incorrect but flagged for human review. This may take up to 2 minutes but you'll be notified when this  happens.

Is the game suitable for all ages?

The storyline of a friendly 82 year old being kidnapped isn't suitable for children under 13 years of age. The puzzles have a wide range of difficulty. If a puzzle proves too difficult, players have the option to get hints or even the full solution and move  on to the next checkpoint.

During the hunt, players will enter into establishments that serve alcohol, including at the final checkpoint. An age limit of 20 years may apply after 8pm.

Is the game suitable for wheelchair users?

Yes it is!

Is the game suitable for people with buggies?

Yes it is!

Will I be able to play if I don't know the city?

Knowing the city is absolutely not a requirement. In fact, we think playing the game is one of the most enjoyable ways of  getting to know the city.

Will I be able to play if English is not my first language?

You can use resources like Google Translate and you should be able to complete the game, however, the game is more enjoyable if you have a decent understanding of English.

Why do I have to play at a specific time of day?

This is because some checkpoints are subject to opening hours.

What do I need to bring?

Each team will need a fully charged phone with Facebook Messenger installed

Is there a limit to the size of a team?

No, but… once a team gets bigger than 5  players, the challenge for and contribution from each player decreases.  We suggest not having more than 5 people per team, and indeed, we  suggest splitting groups of more than 4 into multiple teams.
