Chase whales through Faxaflói Bay at dawn, then conquer the glacial rapids of Hvítá River as it carves through ancient Icelandic canyons.
Two worlds collide in a single extraordinary day. Your journey begins at Reykjavík’s Old Harbour, where you’ll board a vessel bound for the open waters of Faxaflói Bay. Mountains rise in the distance as marine biologists guide you through this thriving ecosystem, pointing out the gentle giants that surface alongside puffins, gannets and guillemots wheeling overhead.
After your ocean voyage, pause for lunch near the harbour before heading inland to Drumbó River Base. Here, the landscape shifts dramatically as you prepare to meet the Hvítá River, a glacial waterway born from Langjökull that carves its way through ancient canyons after thundering over the famous Gullfoss.
Suited up in full rafting gear, you’ll navigate seven kilometres of pure Icelandic wilderness. The river offers an ideal rhythm of playful rapids and peaceful stretches, guiding you through the breathtaking Brúarhlöð canyon where sheer walls reveal perspectives impossible to witness from land. No previous rafting experience is necessary as expert guides lead you through every moment.
After conquering the glacial waters, warm up in the riverside sauna and shower facilities. This is Iceland as it should be experienced: wild, untamed and unforgettable. The adventure spans approximately eleven and a half hours, making it a complete day of ocean wonder and river thrills. Minimum age is 11 years. Participants must sign a waiver acknowledging the inherent risks of outdoor activities.
