Description
On this full day excursion you will begin by taking a short bus ride to the beautiful old village of Kirkjubøur (Church's Field). Here you will visit the oldest church still in use in the Faroes, the over 900 years old Ólavs church Next is the ruins of the 14th Century St.Magnus Cathedral, the site and reason for the second Civil War in the Faroes. This magnificent old structure is a Unesco World Heritage Site. Finishing the visit in the 950+ years old farmhouse, the Roykstova. This farm is the home of the Patursson family, currently headed by the 17th generation of the family running this farm.
From Kirkjubø you will head back to the Capitol, Tórshavn, where you will join your guide on a walk to Tinganes, the site of the old Parliament of the Vikings, founded in 825 and currently the oldest Parliament in the World. Take a walk from there up through the old City, á Reyn, and back down to the harbour.
No excursion in the Faroes without some scenery. At the harbour you will board the ferry Ternan to Nólsoy, the island right outside of Tórshavn. There you will take a scenic hike (Easy level), visit a museum and have a light bite to eat. From there you will return on the ferry to Tórshavn and be shuttled back to your hotels.
