It's hard to describe the feeling when you watch the Northern Lights dancing in the sky. It is an experience of a lifetime.
What’s the process?
Your tour will start with pick-up directly from your accommodation in Reykjavík. Once we are out of the city and away from light pollution our guide will find a good spot to jump out of the car and prepare cameras. We have cozy blankets on board to keep you warm while we wait for the lights.
To make it even more memorable, we’ll have:
- Hot chocolate
- Typical Icelandic liquor (only for adults over 20)
- Icelandic pastries
- Warm blankets
to enjoy while we wait.
Once your guide has confirmed the right spot, it is time for the hunt, get your cameras ready, and let the show begin. Our guides can assist you with the camera setting in case you need help. Your knowledgeable guide will help you with setting up your camera, explain all the science and tales behind the Northern Lights. To complete your Icelandic experience you will have a chance to try traditional pastry and liquor Brennivín which is sometimes called Black Death. We will also make sure that you keep warm during the hunt with blankets and hot chocolate.
Our guides are experts in reading the weather forecast so they will know exactly where to take you to maximize your chances of experiencing this amazing phenomenon. Based on the forecast, we always make the decision based on the forecast before 18:00, if we are heading out during the evening or not.
Even with the best of guides, sightings can never be guaranteed. In case we can’t find any lights on the tour, you are welcome to book again for a Small Group Northern Lights Tour in a minibus another day but no refund can be offered. Please let us know as soon as possible, if you would like to reschedule your tour (subject to availability). In case we can’t operate the tour at all during your stay in Iceland, we will fully refund you the tour price.
